Today was Championship Thursday, but we woke to rain so the schedule was pushed back. The team all went to hit together mid-morning and met back up at the neighboring hotel. They made sandwiches and everyone hung out waiting to see what time games would resume. They told us the semi-finals would start at 2:00 vs PTB. In the middle of the game, they stopped play for lightening. We all had to leave the fields and sit in our cars. We ended up hanging out in the parking lot because the lighting had passed. The game resumed and we started playing really well, so good that Taylor had a moment when he got "charged up" and the crowd gets behind him-love those moments. We beat PTB in the semi-finals 11-5. Then we all went to eat Mexican before the Championship game vs Ark Prospects. The game started at 8:00pm and Taylor was feeling really bad. It was a combo of tummy pain and tired from the heat. He started the game pitching and as a Momma, I knew he didn't have his "stuff" and was pulled out in the 1st inning. He sat the rest of the game...he did bat and hit a double vs a fast pitcher. He also got walked and had two stolen bases, while not feeling well. His head was hurting too. We lost 17-5. During the game, we were told the All-Star game was cancelled and I was even more bothered-(sick son and no all star game-ugg). Before the game ended, we got a text with the ALL-STAR team. I was very thankful that Taylor made it. His teammates Xander, Kam and Cade made the team, too. It was a long night because after the loss, Trey told Coach Hoover and Coach Pettus that Taylor wouldn't be returning to the Mphs Tigers. They were gracious, but the craziness began. We arrived back at the hotel about the same time with Xander and Betsi hugged me and Xander told Taylor he would miss him and Taylor responded that "we can still be friends." The ride home the next day consisted of many texts from the different families telling us how Taylor would be missed-very thoughtful. We are still excited about our decision. Go Dragons!
